The Superior Shore Run offers a 1/2 Marathon, 5K run, 5 Mile hike and 1K kids race on the beautiful trails surrounding Little Presque Isle along the Lake Superior shoreline.
The Lake Superior Shore Run is a trail half marathon with the Eagle Mine 5 km run staged annually in early fall at Little Presque Isle, north of Marquette. 2018 will mark the 25th year of the event, being held on Saturday, September 14, 2019. This event has been the biggest fundraiser for the Superiorland Ski Club’s youth programs since 1994. The course is one of the most spectacular courses in the country for trail running. It traverses rugged and beautiful terrain with incredible scenic vistas that often stop runners in their tracks to admire the scenery. The Upper Peninsula Health Care 1 km Youth Run, Eagle Mine 5 km, and the Half Marathon wind through rugged single track trails with stunning backdrops of pristine Lake Superior and the majestic Huron Mountains.
The 5 Mile hike was a popular addition to the event in 2016. It is for people who want to be a part of the event and who want to enjoy a one vista hike with a "Superior" view and will go up Bareback Ridge. The hike will start at the same location. There will be no age awards for this event, but participants will get a t-shirt if they register on time.
